Ooh, it's a pretty candle arch. Little bit of history for you now - these originate from Sweden, where the Christmas festivities begin with the festival of lights on St Lucia's Day - December 13th. On St. Lucia's Day the oldest daughter in each Swedish household dressed in a white gown with a red sash, wore a crown of evergreen with seven candles in it, woke the family with a song, and served them coffee, cakes, and buns.

I wish I'd lived in Sweden when I were a lad. It would've been great to have to force my sister to serve me coffee, cakes and buns every year, singing 'Santa Lucia' (that well known Abba b-side) whilst her hair caught fire.
